Meet Miriam

Miriam Relyea, a classically-trained pianist, began composing music in 2002 when she felt compelled to write a musical about Queen Esther after reading a book about the Old Testament heroine. Little did she know that this venture would lead to what has become her passion for dramatizing a story and chronicling character transformations with song.

Miriam has had several productions in the Austin area including a full-length
musical, “Esther: Shining Star” for which she wrote the music and lyrics. Her one-hour musicals that have been produced include: “Called by Name: The Story of Mephibosheth”, a Christmas musical titled “On That Night: A Musical Celebration of Hope” and “Three Men, Three Minutes” (about Jesus and the two thieves on the cross).

Miriam is a member of The Dramatist Guild of America and Script Works, Austin.
She’s on the Director’s Council of The University of Texas’ Department of Theatre and Dance and sits on the Board of Christians in Theatre Arts (CITA), a national organization that supports and equips artists. Miriam has a BA in Business Management from Anderson University in Indiana.
