"It is rare to find an individual who has the passion, vision, and talent for their art and who also has the discipline, creativity and genuine commitment to bring about great musical and lyrical art.    That rarity is found in the person of Miriam Relyea.   Miriam uses her impressive leadership and creative skills to pursue excellence in every project in which she is involved.   As director for her first production of "On That Night", I was amazed at the seamless manner in which Miriam's composition and lyrics blended beautifully to reflect the emotion and motivation of each character.    The actors/vocalists were quickly able to personalize their character's awe and struggle and the music and lyrics fit each unique character perfectly.   As a director, one can only dream of such a treasure of talent and skill.   I look forward to seeing and hearing much more of her work not only in Austin but nationally."

“During the holidays of 2011, I got a needed reminder that good, inspiring theatre doesn’t have to happen in a conventional space. I had the pleasure of seeing “On That Night: A Musical Celebration of Hope” written by Guild member Miriam Relyea (music and lyrics) and Dr. Mary Ellen Johnson (book). It was presented at the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin. The story was inspiring, the music was moving, and the production values were impressive with a full orchestra and a large, talented class of local actors and singers. Was it mainstream theatre—no. But sitting in that packed church for the second show (and the second capacity crowd of the day) I experienced how powerful theatre can be wherever it happens, and I realized how much of an impact Guild members can have on the local level; it made me grateful to be a part of this organization that day.”

“Miriam Relyea is one of the most multi-talented, uniquely gifted, and profoundly creative people I know.   With apparent inspiration from God, she has been given a remarkable gift for telling ancient stories from the pages of the Bible in fresh new ways that pierce the human heart.  Whether it is the famous story of the Jewish hero Esther, the obscure tale of the outcast Mephibosheth, or the redemptive proclamation of the good news of the Savior, Miriam has the ability to share the message in song and lyric in a way that will move the hearer to deep emotional connection and life transformation.

There’s no telling where God will take Miriam next, but wherever He does, we all will be the beneficiaries of her work as she partners with the Creator of Creativity.”
